Animate!

So now that my character modelling is finished I moved onto rigging and blendshapes. I created the bones and control shapes for my character before I gave it to Krish so he could skin her for me. Krish fixed any control shapes i got wrong (mostly the arms) and added a few bones i had forgotten (I only put two bones in the fingers instead of three) and then skinned it for me.

I then moved onto creating blendshapes for my character. I'm pretty happy with my selection of blendshapes right now but I may end up adding more as I progress on with the project.

Now that the rabbit's accessories are done I got on with the rigging. I built the rig and the control shapes and I did half the blendshapes for the face (Aimi is doing the other half). I had a bit of difficulty with the skinning as I don't have much experience doing that but luckily Krish was there to help me, well to be honest he ended up pretty much skinning it for me.

 I think I need a lot more practice at painting weights as I'm never quite sure if I'm doing it right.



UPDATE: I have broken my rig, not sure how, But the model is already posed so I will finish everything else first and go back and fix it if I have time.

In part 2 of our rigging tutorial we finished our IK/FK switch (which I found very difficult, I could not get my head around the connection editor for some reason), created finger controls,  created a few blendshapes and painted skin weights on our model.

So in our tutorials we started learning rigging. This week we placed the joints and created control shapes and the lesson is going to continue next week with skinning and blend shapes. We learned where to put the control shapes and how to place them so they would make sense for animation. We also put IK and FK handles on the arms so that we could switch between them.
